How to choose
- Pick the category for your speed. Cat5e suits Gigabit networks, Cat6 and Cat6a suit faster links, and Cat8 is for short, high-speed runs between servers and switches.
- Measure the run and add some slack. Standard Ethernet runs work up to 100 meters.
- Choose shielded cable where there is electrical interference, such as near machinery and power cabling.
